out of every 10,000 persimmon trees. Its dramatic black markings flow through the
pale wood like strokes of ink. No two pieces share the same pattern, and the wood
develops a richer luster the more it is used.

Jindai Keyaki is Japanese zelkova that remained buried underground for several
hundred to a thousand years. Natural processes gradually transformed its color,
creating deep, nuanced tones and expressive grain patterns that cannot be
reproduced artificially.

Jindai Sugi is Japanese cedar that remained buried underground for several hundred
to a thousand years. It is distinguished by its deep dark-brown color, expressive
grain, and characteristic aroma. Only Jindai Sugi is finished with a clear urethane
coating to help prevent its natural resin from transferring to book pages.
The coating also enhances the wood's luster, rich color, and distinctive grain.
